Commenting on the adoption, European Commissioner for Environment, Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Karmenu Vella said: "I welcome today's adoption by the Council of a new regulation to ensure the supply of raw and semi-raw material for the EU processing industry in the next three years. This regulation will ensure the competitiveness of the EU processing industry, taking into account the supply of the EU producers and the trade context. The Commission is confident that the EU processing industry will have an appropriate and important instrument to create jobs, develop investment and foster innovation in this sector."
