EUMOFA Monthly Highlights n° 7/2017

FIRST SALES IN EUROPE - In January−May 2017, first-sales value increased in France, Latvia, Norway, and Portugal over January−May 2016. Focus on John Dory and Turbot. - GLOBAL SUPPLY - The most valuable species landed by the Italian fleet (2016) were shrimp, hake, anchovy, cuttlefish and octopus. HADDOCK IN THE EU -The EU imported various haddock products at a value of EUR 210 million and 70.000 tonnes (2016). FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE IN INDIA - The EU imports of Indian seafood reached EUR 943 million and 183.000 tonnes (2016). The most valuable imported species were tropical shrimp and squid. The main EU destinations for Indian seafood were Spain, Italy, the UK, and France. CONSUMPTION - Fresh whiting - MACROECONOMIC CONTEXT - In July 2017, the average marine fuel price (Italy, France, Spain, and the UK) reached 0,37 EUR/litre, down 11% since the beginning of the year.
