European Maritime Day 2014: Information stakeholders' sessions in Brussels and Bremen in November

Every year in May, European Maritime Day is celebrated within the European Union to showcase the importance of the seas and oceans for our everyday life. The Maritime Day Conference has become the main European event where stakeholders from all maritime sectors meet and discuss the opportunities and challenges currently facing maritime regions and sectors across Europe.

Organise a workshop or an exhibition during European Maritime Day 2014

The 7th edition of the European Maritime Day Conference will be held in Bremen (Germany) on 19 and 20 May 2014. It is organised by the European Commission (DG for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries) in partnership with the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Ports of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.

The theme for the 2014 conference is "Innovation and Maritime Technologies". It will explore the road towards innovation in the blue economy.

The EMD Conference is always a time to take stock of progress and to focus minds on the maritime priorities ahead. European Commissioner Maria Damanaki will join German and European ministers, personalities and European stakeholders at the Conference. A number of events, workshops and exhibitions will take place around these days.

To inform you on how to get actively involved in this conference, two information sessions are being organised.

1. Brussels: Thursday, 21st November 2013 at 10h00 – 12h30
Meeting hosted by the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the European Union (8-14 Rue Jacques de Lalaing, 1040 Brussels).

2. Bremen: Thursday, 28th November 2013 at 10h00 – 12h30
Meeting hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Ports of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen at the Bremen Congress Centre.
