The visit will include official meetings with senior Romanian government officials as well as a number of roundtables with local stakeholders. Throughout the two days, Commissioner Damanaki will underline the need to turn the recently adopted CFP Reform into concrete results in the Black Sea and share ideas as to how best this can be achieved.

On the 29th September, in Sf Gheorge in the Danube Delta, the Commissioner will meet the Romanian Prime Minister, Victor Ponta, to discuss issues including the upcoming Black Sea Conference and the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) investments to Romania. The Commissioner will also meet with the Romanian Minister of Agriculture, Daniel Constantin, to touch upon the EFF implementation and the future EMFF (European Maritime and Fisheries Fund) programme. The Commissioner will then host a roundtable with local stakeholders in the Danube Delta and visit a local turbot fish farm.

On the 30th September, Commissioner Damanaki will hold meetings in Bucharest with the Romanian Prime-Minister Victor Ponta and Foreign Affairs Minister Titus Corlatean to urge for continued support and involvement in enhancing regional cooperation in the Black Sea, and will highlight the need to prioritise the forthcoming Black Sea Conference as an opportunity to do so.

The Commissioner will hold further meetings with Minister of Transportation, Mrs. Ramona Manescu, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Ms. Rovana Plumb and Delegated Minister of Water, Forests and Fisheries - Ms. Lucia Varga.

The visit will end with a local stakeholders meeting in Bucharest where the Commissioner will emphasise the need for co-operation between governments, industry and stakeholders in the Black Sea region.
