Maria Damanaki, European Commissioner for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs has welcomed the agreement on a new, reformed fisheries policy for the EU reached between the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament. The agreement marks the culmination of an extended process which begun with a lengthy consultation process that in turn led to an ambitious 2011 package of reform proposals by the European Commission.
The Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting of May will take place in Brussels on 13th and 14th May 2013, under the presidency of Mr Simon Coveney, Irish Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
Today, Maria Damanaki, European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries visited the annual Brussels Seafood Exhibition, where she launched the new online European Market Observatory for Fishery and Aquaculture Products (EUMOFA).

The Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting of April 2013 will take place in Luxemburg on 22 April 2013, under the presidency of Mr Simon Coveney, Irish Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Fisheries Ministers, at the meeting of the Council of 28 January, fully endorsed the ambitions of the Irish Presidency to reach a political agreement on the reform of the CFP before mid 2013.
On 1 January 2013, the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union passed from Cyprus to Ireland. Among other tasks, the Irish government is now coordinating the work of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council and will set the agenda regarding reform of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
The Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting of January 2013 will take place in Brussels on 28 January 2013, under the presidency of Mr Simon Coveney, Irish Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
