In the framework of the EU's "Ocean Week" initiative (7-13 November 2016), European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Karmenu Vella will outline Europe's current efforts to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the 22nd Convention of the Parties of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 22) to be held in Marrakech, Morocco, from 8 to 13 November 2016.

date:  10/11/2016

A keynote speaker in the "Ocean Economy and Africa" panel, on 12 November Mr Vella will give his perspective of sustainable blue growth in Africa and explain what the EU is doing to support it. He will then participate to the High-Level Plenary of the Ocean Action Day, where participants will discuss 'Solutions to the Core Issues: Food Security, Mitigation, Adaptation, Building resilience'.
