The European Commission is organising an Information Day to present the 2016 work programme of Horizon 2020's Societal Challenge "Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials" as well as related call topics in the “Blue Growth - Demonstrating an Ocean of Opportunities”, “Industry 2020 in the Circular Economy” and "Smart and Sustainable Cities" focus areas.

Horizon 2020 (2014-2020), the EU funding programme for research and innovation, puts emphasis on tackling societal challenges, including Societal Challenge 1 (SC1) related to Health Demographic Change and Wellbeing.

FET (Future and Emerging Technologies) is organising an Information Day for the "FET Open" call for Research and Innovation Actions. The next call cut-off date is 29 September 2015.

The Info Day is organised by the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking to provide full information on the 2015 Call for Proposals. The session will take place from 09:00 to 12:30 in the Charlemagne Building on June 26, Rue de la Loi 170, B-1000 Brussels. The Technology Centre ASCR in Prague is hosting an Information Day about Future and Emerging Technologies, with Timo Hallantie, Head of the FET Open unit, presenting the scheme.

The overall objective of the training day is to give an overview of the Horizon 2020 EU programme (how it works, the participation rules, project life cycle etc.) with a focus on the possibilities available for the Mediterranean Partner Countries. Target groups: Public and private research institutions (Universities, Research Centres, Scientific Parks etc.), Industries (Large companies and SMEs).

A new call for proposals for Smart Cities and Communities under Horizon 2020 opened on 10 December 2014 (deadline for submitting proposals is 5 May 2015). It calls for proposals in two topics: SCC-01-2015: Smart Cities and Communities solutions integrating energy, transport and ICT sectors through lighthouse (large scale demonstration – first of the kind) projects and SCC-03-2015: Development of system standards for smart cities and communities solutions.

The European Commission is organising an Information Day presenting the "Future Internet" topics from the second ICT call, H2020-ICT-2015, published in October 2014. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 14 April 2015.

To support the preparation of proposals, DG Research & Innovation's Transport Directorate is organising an Information Day on Monday 2 February 2015 from 9 AM till 6 PM in the Charlemagne building, rue de la Loi 170, Brussels.

An information day on the first three H2020 calls under the societal challenge "Secure societies - Protecting freedom and security of Europe and its citizens" will take place on 1 April 2014 in Brussels. Detailed call information, new H2020 features and networking opportunities for potential applicants are on the agenda. Registration for the event is open until 25 March, but will close when the number of participants reaches 300.
