Horizon 2020 Work Programme from 2018 to 2020

Spanning seven years (2014 - 2020) and with a budget of €77 billion, Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU research and innovation funding programme ever. It is implemented via multi-annual work programmes.

 
Commission review states that partnerships in research and innovation boost the economy

Research partnerships between the EU, the private sector and the Member States are on track to deliver on their objectives, to improve people's lives and to increase Europe's international competitiveness. This was confirmed by the results of interim evaluations of public-private and public-public partnerships supported by Horizon 2020, the EU's €77 billion research and innovation framework programme, which the European Commission published today.

 
Impact workshop on the cPPPs in Horizon 2020 - 17 May 2017, Brussels

This 7th Impact Workshop, organised by the European Commission, will gather representatives of Horizon 2020 projects funded under the 2014-2016 cPPP calls for proposals, and the members of the cPPP Partnership Boards.

The objective of the workshop is to assess the impact of the contractual Public-Private Partnerships (cPPPs) :

- Energy Efficient Buildings

- Sustainable Process Industry through Resource and Energy Efficiency

Commission supports Poland in improving its research and innovation system

The Commission has presented key policy recommendations that will help enhance the performance of the Polish research and innovation system. This Peer Review of Poland's Higher Education and Science system, requested by the Polish government, was carried out between January and September 2017 by an independent panel of experts under the Policy Support Facility (PSF) of Horizon 2020, the EU's research and innovation programme.

 
Commission launches the 2018 edition of the Women Innovators Prize

The European Commission is launching today the fifth edition of the EU Prize for Women Innovators to award women entrepreneurs who have achieved outstanding innovations and brought them to market. The first prize is €100 000, with second and third prizes of €50 000 and €30 000 respectively. A special prize of €20 000 will be dedicated to the Rising Innovator Award (30-years-old or younger) for an exceptional innovator at the beginning of her career.

 
Analysis of impact of completed Eurostars-1 projects - Final report 2017

The main objective of the study is to evaluate the performance and to assess the impact of the Eurostars-1 Joint Programme in terms of new products, processes or services introduced into the market two years after the project’s completion. The analysis is also aimed at providing concrete recommendations and any other useful comments on how to better implement the Eurostars-2 programme.

 
EU-China Summit: new flagship initiatives in research and innovation

The European Union and China will boost their research and innovation cooperation with a new package of flagship initiatives targeting the areas of Food, Agriculture and Biotechnologies, Environment and Sustainable Urbanisation, Surface Transport, Safer and Greener aviation, and Biotechnologies for Environment and Human Health.

 
In-depth technology for deep-sea discovery

It is often said that we know more about the surface of the moon than the ocean floor. The EU-funded STRONGMAR project will address marine knowledge gaps by fostering knowledge transfer and exchanges between leading European marine science research institutes. The project seeks to support innovative technological solutions that will advance deep-sea research at INESC TEC in Porto, Portugal.

 
Nurturing research to vitalise Poland's bioeconomy

Researchers at the Institute of Soil Science and Cultivation in the Polish town of Pulawy have set out to promote the bioeconomy and its benefits in the region. Their work is backed by funding from the EU's ERA Chairs initiative.

 
Making Poland's energy infrastructure more sustainable

The EU-funded SuPREME project will help to promote a conversion to renewable energy systems and resources in Poland by twinning one of the country's best energy research centre with more advanced EU centres of excellence in the field.

 
Commission appoints new advisory group on ethics in science and new technologies

The European Commission has today officially re-launched the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE) by appointing 15 high-calibre members. The Group will advise the Commission on all areas of policy where ethical, societal and fundamental rights issues intersect with the development of science and new technologies.

 
Commission launches the 2017 European Capital of Innovation contest

Carlos Moedas, EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, launched the third edition of the European Capital of Innovation prize. This contest will reward the European city that is building the best 'innovation ecosystem', connecting citizens, public organisations, academia, and business.

 
Commission simplifies Horizon 2020

The European Commission will further simplify participation in Horizon 2020, the EU's research and innovation programme. New funding rules will reduce administrative costs to participants and help prevent accounting errors.
