In March 2023, the Big Buyers Working Together project was launched to further support public buyers with the establishment of 10 new communities of practice. Public buyers will be consulted to identify unmet public procurement needs that should be addressed by the new communities. Once established, they will be hosted on the Public Buyers Community Platform.

The Big Buyers Working Together project aims to promote collaboration between big public buyers to encourage the wider use of strategic public procurement for sustainable solutions. Each new community of practice will be devoted to the purchase of a specific product, work or service where European collaboration is needed.

To support the process of developing more strategic procurement approaches, public buyers will meet regularly online and in person. The Big Buyers Working Together Secretariat will facilitate this undertaking by organising study visits, market dialogue, producers’ pitching sessions, meetings with industry associations, and other events that will respond to capacity gaps and community members’ needs.

EUROCITIES, ICLEI and BME are leading the project under the support of the European Commission (EISMEA and DG GROW).
