A new tourism Dashboard to support EU destinations to become greener, more digital and resilient

The Commission has launched the EU tourism dashboard, a new tool to help policy makers at national and regional level to steer policies and strategies in the tourism sector. It aims to improve access to statistics and policy-relevant indicators for tourism, in particular supporting destinations and public authorities in tracking their progress in the green and digital transition.

date:  20/10/2022

The tourism Dashboard supports EU destinations, -- countries,   regions and municipalities -- to track their progress, compare themselves with each other (using indicators at national levels and regional levels, where possible) and to position themselves regarding the EU average. It can help decision makers and destination managers to recognise vulnerabilities (such as high seasonality or dependence on specific origins) or key marketing advantages (such as excellent bathwater or diversity of tourism options). It also makes available in a user-friendly visual manner basic information of tourism in the destination, such as tourism nights spent, capacity available and average length of stay.

The EU tourism Dashboard is one of the proposed actions of the Transition Pathway for tourism (available in 22 languages), which was created in collaboration with public and private EU tourism stakeholders to identify 27 areas of actions for the green and digital transition and for improving the resilience of EU tourism.

The Dashboard indicators follows a call from the Member States in May 2021 and will be further developed and expanded in collaboration with their experts.
