The European Commission has proposed to replace three directives in the field of textile names and labelling and their amendments by one single regulation. As a consequence 27 different national laws in this field could be removed, thereby simplifying the regulatory framework immensely. At the same time, the procedure will ease the adaption of textile names and labels to the technical progress. Fibre producers, fibre users and consumers directly benefit from the faster market introduction of novel fibre and innovative products.
