REACH 2018 and beyond

From 27 to 28 April 2017, the European Commission is organising a conference on REACH in Sofia, Bulgaria. REACH is the European Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. It is the major pillar of the EU chemicals legislation. It imposes rules on the production, marketing and use of chemicals.

Due to its broad scope, REACH affects more than the chemical industry alone. Other sectors include: cleaning products, paints but also articles such as clothes, furniture and electrical appliances.

So, REACH concerns a wide range of companies across the EU. Non-compliance with the Regulation can have serious consequences for those businesses.
With this conference, the Commission wants to draw the attention of companies and especially of small and medium-sized ones. The aim is to inform them about the obligations they may have under REACH. Also, to assist them in preparing for the forthcoming 2018 registration deadline.
