Nanotechnologies have enormous potential benefits for manufacturers, consumers, employees, patients and the environment. They will bring more energy and resource efficient processes, improve computer memories and processors and could usher in a new age of customised pharmaceuticals and medical procedures.
[p]The European Commission is inviting proposals for the establishment of a European Business and Technology Centre in New Delhi, India. This will be a Call for Proposals for which the European Commission has made 6.6 million euro available, representing up to 80 per cent of the cost. The successful applicant will have to provide a minimum of 20 per cent of the cost for the proposed action.[/p]
Some 30,000 chemicals currently in use (e.g. acids, metals, solvents, surfactants, glues) have to be pre-registered at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) between 1st June and 1st December 2008.
