Croatia
Nikolina Rudić was selected as the winner in Croatia by a national jury panel including Lidija Kralj (Assistant Minister, Directorate for Education System Support and Development, Ministry of Science and Education), Dragan Rosa (Scientist, Croatian Astronomical Society), and Ingeborg Fülepp (Artist).
There were a total of 1544 submissions to the competition from Croatia.
Norway
Shriya Avinash Salgakar was selected as the winner in Norway by a national jury panel including Audun Halvorsen (State Secretary, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Christian Hauglie-Hanssen (Director General of the Norwegian Space Agency), Wolfgang Behrendt (Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Norway),and Martin Aas (Illustrator at NRK).
There were a total of 516 submissions to the competition from Norway.
Switzerland
Julina Smid was selected as the winner in Switzerland by a jury consisting of representatives from the EU delegation to Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO), the Swiss Space Center, and a Swiss artist.
264 primary school children took part in the competition from across Switzerland.
Background
The Galileo Drawing Competition was organised by the European Commission and was open to children who were born between 2008 and 2013, and who are living in Croatia, Norway and Switzerland. One winner was selected from each of these countries.
To take part, children were required to submit a piece of artwork based on the theme ‘Dreams of Space’. The children could use any drawing, painting and colouring material and techniques they wanted. Pictures were then scanned or photographed and uploaded to the competition website.
