Encouraging tourism also in low season will secure regular income, stable employment and  it will allow better prices and quality of services for tourists.

Coastal and maritime tourism is also of particular importance as coastal regions are among the most popular tourism destinations.

The coast offers everything from large cities to small villages, from busy nightlife to complete relaxation.
A more efficient use of infrastructure all over the year (on this topic, please watch the video about the Calypso action of the European Commission), the development of new innovative tourism products that go beyond "sun and beach" would reinforce the growth potential of coastal and maritime tourism.

These two key issues will be discussed at the European Tourism Day taking place in Brussels, on 27 September 2012.
