In occasion of the EU Industry Week 2021, the international IP SME Helpdesks will provide a virtual event with focus on the theme of the European Green Deal. The questions that will be addressed are Are we ready? and What are the main IP challenges for the Green Deal? Our IP experts will talk about bottlenecks of transfer and commercialisation of green technologies, IP challenges faced by SMEs in the cleantech sector when going international, with the support of case studies.

The European Maritime Day (EMD) Conference is the annual two-day event during which Europe’s maritime community meet to network, discuss and forge joint action on maritime affairs and sustainable blue economy.

On December 15th, the Westmed Initiative, in collaboration with the BlueMed, is organising a webinar on Sustainable Tourism with a special focus on strengthening ties and opportunities with Southern Partners. An unprecedented occasion to showcase relevant projects and initiatives and how these can be applied for tapping into opportunities with Southern Partners.

On 11 December, the WestMED Assistance Mechanism is promoting a webinar on ways to support knowledge and technology transfer towards southern Mediterranean countries in the area of innovative and sustainable (small-scale) aquaculture. As an outcome, greater uptake in the south of existing projects and practices is expected, as well as a deeper discussion on the ways to use EU bilateral cooperation funding to support further developments with each southern country.

The Algerian National Hub of the WestMED Initiative will organise, in coordination with the Ministry of Fisheries and Fishing Productions, a virtual national event on the "Maritime Fisheries Cluster" which will bring together some 20 representatives, notably from the Ministry in charge of fisheries, technical institutions, companies, associations as well as academics and researchers.

With two sessions on Thursday 3 December, the EIC will be present at the Web Summit to discuss inclusion and gender equality in tech as well as present new EIC Fund.

Building upon a strong networking activity during its first two years of implementation, the WestMED Assistance Mechanism is promoting the organization of a closed meeting on November 30th to pave the way for the development of an integrated maritime clusters network within the Western Mediterranean.

As part of the MSPglobal pilot project in the West Mediterranean, a national training course on Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and Sustainable Blue Economy is organized in Rabat (Morocco), one of the member states of the WestMED Initiative.

The prize, worth €10 million, will be awarded for the development of a prototype battery that can power an electric vehicle with similar performance in terms of range and charging time as a conventional petrol/diesel powered small family vehicle. An info session will take place on 26 November at 11.00 am (CET).
