New CINEA background for videoconferencing

When organising or speaking at online events, make sure to use an adequate background picture (CINEA/programme visual identity etc.). Several CINEA backgrounds are available on CINEAnet including a brand new one featuring no less than 63 pictures from projects managed by the Agency!

 
Participate in the collection of unused school supplies

Do you have promotional pens, pencils or other school supplies at home that you have not used or don't need anymore? The ASBL Arc en ciel is collecting them for distribution among disadvantaged youth and children in Brussels and Wallonia. If you want to participate in this action a box is available in the ground floor kitchen until 26 August.

 
#CEFTransport project to build a unique railway bridge

The construction of the Rail Baltica railway bridge over the Neris River was launched with a ceremony on 21 July in Lithuania. A complex engineering structure will be built in the next 2.5 years. To protect the Natura 2000 site the bridge will not have a single support in the water and will be the longest railway bridge in the Baltic States.

 
CINEA partly closes its buildings to save energy

In line with the message of Commissioner Hahn to save energy during the summer holiday period, CINEA is joining the BEST (Building Energy Savings Together) action by shutting down the ventilation and cooling systems of the main building (bloc B) each Friday from 22 July to 12 August.

Guidance on Communication and Visibility Rules

Corporate guidance to Member States on the communication and visibility rules in the EU funding programmes 2021-27, initially available only in English, is now available in all EU official languages. You can find it in the Publications Office website.

 
CINEA’s 2022 mid-year report published

The report is part of the Agency’s reporting cycle and lists the many CINEA achievements during the very dynamic first semester of 2022 along the lines of the commitments made in our Annual Work Programme. The report is now with the Agency’s parent DGs and Steering Committee.

CINEA Green Team reinforced

Eight new colleagues have joined the Agency’s Green Team. They joined the Building, Mobility, Administration/Waste and Communication teams and will contribute to make CINEA a carbon neutral workplace.

 
VIP visits to CINEA

The Directors-General of DG MARE, Charlina Vitcheva, and DG CLIMA, Mauro Petriccione, recently visited CINEA to learn more about the Agency, its project portfolio, main activities and key achievements. Both praised CINEA staff for the excellent work done.

 
Can we remain within 1.5°C of warming without changing our lifestyles?

Technological change alone, such as decreased emissions from the building, industrial and transport sectors following the adoption of more efficient technology and renewable energy, will likely not be sufficient to limit global warming to 1.5°C. The EU 1.5° Lifestyles project currently analyses how combinations of lifestyle options can impact greenhouse gas emissions targets for 2030 and 2050.

 
EUSEW receives special recognition

EUSEW 2021 has been awarded a special mention for the “best innovative idea” at this year’s Commission corporate sustainable events competition. The idea that won the jury's appreciation was to have the Week's award trophies produced manually out of a fallen trees from Wallonia by an inclusive company employing disabled workers.

 
The CINEA Green Talks launched

This programme is open to all CINEA staff in view of sharing the latest policy developments within the framework of the EU Green Deal. The six sessions to take place in September-November are organised by topic rather than by programme in order to foster synergies among CINEA programmes and staff.
