Semantic interoperability community
The SEMIC action of the ISA² Programme aims to improve the semantic interoperability of e-Government systems, facilitate information exchange and promote the provision of EU cross-border and cross-sector digital public services.
“Semantic” refers to the situation in which data has the same meaning in different contexts.
SEMIC provides a number of solutions and support that enable European public administrations to exchange data in a seamless way. For example, SEMIC has developed common standards for data models and data specifications. These common standards make sure that information exchanged between different systems is not “lost in translation” and data interpreted in the same way.
