Concepts and definitions
Eurostat's concepts and definitions database (CODED) contains definitions of key terminology and concepts used within the European Statistical System (ESS).
Usage
The main objectives of CODED are to:
- maintain a repository of a comprehensive set of variable, concept, and terminology definitions used within the ESS
- provide an easily available source of statistical concepts and definitions for all users and producers of European statistics
- facilitate and ensure users' accurate understanding and interpretation of the data disseminated by Eurostat
- give greater transparency to Eurostat data requirements from EU members
- act as a reference point for standardisation and harmonisation of concepts and definitions
- highlight definitional inconsistencies
- promote a consistent use of existing standards
Access
CODED is available for download via the Euro SDMX registry to all users.
