How does COVID-19 affect official European statistics?

The COVID-19 crisis is having a direct impact on the production of European statistics while simultaneously leading to an increased demand for Eurostat data. Eurostat and the National Statistical Institutes are responding by continuing to publish relevant statistics of the highest quality as planned in the national and Eurostat release calendar.

COVID-19 has also impacted the ability of statistical authorities to collect and process data in the traditional manner. Therefore, Eurostat is providing practical guidance for official statisticians on the issues triggered by COVID-19. The section 'Support to statisticians' centralises all new guidelines and methodological notes and will be regularly updated as new guidelines are developed.
