Sports, music and dance festival for children living in institutions, will be held from June 30 to July 2, as part of the activities related to the implementation of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion in Bulgaria.
More than 150 children living in institutions for children deprived of parental care, will participate at the festival. The festival will take place at the Black Sea coast Albena resort and the official opening will be at 12.30h on 30.06.2010.
Children will participate in sporting events such as athletics race, football on small doors and table tennis. The dance contest will include two categories - folk and sport dance. A song contest will also take place during the festival.
The festival aims not only to present the talents of children abandoned in institutions, but also to promote their activity in the field of sport and culture. This is one of the main themes of the European Year - 2010 in Bulgaria. Access of vulnerable children to initiatives that promote and develop their artistic and sporting talent, is one of the conditions for successful social inclusion and the creation of skills for independent living. Children living in institutions are not different from other children and are entitled to equal opportunity - this is one of the messages of the upcoming festival in the context of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.
