Assistance across the world

Between 1992 (when the Commission's humanitarian aid department was created) and 2015, the European Commission allocated round to EUR 23 billion for humanitarian assistance projects to help victims of conflict and disasters in more than 140 countries around the globe. In addition, since 2010 (when civil protection and humanitarian aid were merged into the same Commission department) and 2015, the EU Civil Protection Mechanism has provided rapid response to more than 170 disasters in Europe and beyond.
