eDelivery software roadmap: available releases and plans for 2025
Below we share the current development status for the eDelivery sample software solutions.
Domibus updates
Over the winter, we released Domibus 5.0.10 and 5.1.7 to reinforce both of the currently supported product lines. These patch versions focused on bug fixes and security updates. Both ensure that Domibus users can rely on up-to-date AS4 software. The Release Candidate for the next long-term support version, Domibus 5.2, is now rescheduled for Q3 2025. It will introduce the following:
- Java 21 support for enhanced performance and security.
- Migration to the Jakarta EE framework to align with the latest Java standards.
- Two product variants:
- WebLogic variant (Jakarta EE 8).
- WildFly and Tomcat variant (Jakarta EE 10).
📌 Note: Support for WildFly will be phased out after Domibus 5.2 due to limited usage and long-term support concerns. If you still rely on WildFly for Domibus, please let us know. Domibus 6.0 will introduce support for eDelivery AS4 2.0 (read more here), including ECDSA encryption, as well as support for Spring Boot, improving cloud compatibility and making deployment more flexible.
DomiSMP updates
Version 5.1 continues to build on aligning the European Commission's sample SMP implementation with the eDelivery SMP 2.0 profile. The current DomiSMP release ensures full compliance with OASIS SMP 2.0, enables NAPTR service configuration for DNS via DomiSML, and improves document management with a review process, templates and multi-participant referencing.A minor update, DomiSMP 5.1.1, is planned for 23 May 2025. It will include third-party library updates and bug fixes to further stabilise this eDelivery sample implementation.
We invite users to upgrade to DomiSMP 5.1. Note that support for DomiSMP 5.0.x expired at the end of January 2025.
DomiSML updates
Organisations are encouraged to upgrade to the DomiSML 4.3.1 stability patch version, released in November 2024.DomiSML 5.0, expected on 15 May 2025, will bring:
- Java 21 support for long-term compatibility.
- New administration features for better record management.
- Improved logging for easier troubleshooting.
- Multiple network records support.
- Migration of technical documentation to a web-based format for easier navigation.
📌 DomiSML 5.0 will initially support Tomcat 10.1, with WebLogic support to follow once WebLogic 15.1.1 is available (for details, refer to the Oracle Fusion Middleware Statement of Direction).

Overview: eDelivery software roadmap
As maintenance of released software takes precedence over new releases, please note that all dates are tentative and subject to change.
For an updated roadmap, see Release calendar. eDelivery is a Building Block provided by the European Commission, offering technical specifications, installable software and services for secure digital data exchange across a network of nodes. Domibus is the sample software provided by the European Commission to implement an eDelivery Service Metadata Publisher for publishing and retrieving data necessary for an eDelivery party to dynamically configure its system for message exchange with other parties using eDelivery. It is based on the eDelivery AS4 profile, an open technical specification for the secure, web-based, payload-agnostic exchange of data or documents. There are numerous other products and services currently conformant with the eDelivery AS4 1.15 profile. We invite projects to browse the full list before choosing their AS4 software. DomiSMP is the sample software provided by the European Commission to implement an eDelivery Service Metadata Publisher for publishing and retrieving data necessary for an eDelivery party to dynamically configure its system for message exchange with other parties using eDelivery. It is based on the eDelivery SMP 1.10 profile, an open technical specification for publishing service metadata within a 4-corner network. There are numerous other products and services currently conformant with the SMP 1.10 profile. We invite projects to browse the full list before choosing their SMP software. DomiSML is the sample software provided by the European Commission to implement an eDelivery Service Metadata Locator for an eDelivery party to discover the URLs of other counterparties using eDelivery Access Points and their corresponding metadata. It is based on the eDelivery BDXL profile, an open technical specification for locating Access Points within a network, and on the PEPPOL SML Specification, a technical specification defining a BDXL administration API.
