Use public services across the EU
DIGITAL eID transforms how you can access online public services in other countries.
Whether you are a visitor, a new mover or already well settled in your new host country, DIGITAL eID allows you to access services with the same national eID that you have always used.
Previously, EU citizens who moved to a new EU country and wanted to access online public services would need to either apply for a local eID, or even have to go in person to the public services office.
Thanks to the eIDAS network, many national eID schemes are now mutually recognisable. This means that, in many cases, you can use your national eID means to access online public services in other EU countries.

Submit your Tax Return
Complete the submission of your documentation, providing details on the income earned and enabling the calculation of the amount of tax payable to the government.
Check your Criminal Record
Check your criminal record online and request a certificate detailing it. Employers may request this from potential new employees when applying for a job.

EU citizens who have been resident in their host country for longer periods of time may be eligible for a retirement pension and can now submit applications online.
