The Coalition of Social NGOs is organising a human ring around the European institutions. This symbolic event calls on civil society, trade unions, MEPs and citizens who feel concerned by the fight against poverty and social exclusion to request political commitment towards ending poverty and social exclusion; focused on solidarity and social justice.
The message the Coalition wants to spread is: Ending poverty is EVERYBODY'S business, and is calling for a credible response to the crisis:
- Accessible services for all
- An end to homelessness
- Participation in policy making
- Fundamental rights at the heart of the European policies
- Equality between men and women and an end to all discrimination
- Redistribution of wealth to create more equal societies
- Adequate income and high levels of social protection
- Decent work to create a sustainable way out of poverty
