OASIS in Paris: greening the city and reversing climate change, one schoolyard at a time

Asphalted schoolyards throughout Paris are being turned into cool, green islands, co-designed with the help of pupils, staff and local residents. In doing so, the project is helping to protect Parisians against the effects of climate change, while creating spaces where children can have fun, and that help improve social cohesion and public health.

Improving waste collection facilities in Hybe, Slovakia

Thanks to ERDF funding, the municipality of Hybe, in Slovakia’s Stredné Slovensko region, carried out a project to improve waste separation, collection and removal for its inhabitants. As well as protecting the environment and landscape by reducing illegal dumping, the project also contributes to a wider goal of raising the living conditions of the local Roma population and promoting social inclusion.

New nursery school built in Slovak village of Pečovská Nová Ves helps Romani people

EU funding has supported the construction of a new nursery school in the village of Pečovská Nová Ves, a municipality in the district of Sabínov, in east Slovakia’s Prešov region. Located near the village’s existing primary school, the nursery provides preschool education in a safe and accessible environment for 50 children. Approximately 20 of its pupils come from marginalised Roma communities.

Flooded heritage in the Centre-Val de Loire region: protected properties, preserved heritage

The aim of this operation carried out by the Etablissement public Loire (Loire public establishment) is to offer managers and owners of cultural property located in flood zones a method for diagnosing vulnerability to flooding, which should make it possible to assess the risks on site and identify the heritage safeguarding measures to be implemented.
