The importance of the circular economy was mentioned extensively by respondents, as was the need for systemic and integrated approaches, promoting multi-disciplinarity and development of new business models. The Sustainable Development Goals were also occasionally mentioned.

Respondents generally supported the evolution of the previous two SC5 work programmes. But, different suggestions were made for balance between support for traditional research and for solutions-oriented innovation projects.

We would like to thank everyone for their contributions which will be very useful in the 2018-2020 strategic programming process for SC5 of Horizon 2020.

Respondents to the survey were European and international stakeholders, such as European Technology Platforms, Joint Programming Initiatives, academic institutions and associations, industry representatives and associations. One third of the proposals were made in a personal capacity.

Further details on the results of the consultation are available in the short analysis attached.
