The event is organised by euRobotics, which represents the private side of SPARC, the partnership for robotics in Europe, and is supported by the European Commission. Discussions on topics and contents during the ERF have an immediate impact on the roadmapping process for robotics in Europe, which will define the priorities, technologies and strategic developments of European research, development and innovation (R&D&I).

The official opening of the conference takes place on 11th March 2015 at 11:00 with speakers from the European Commission: Deputy Director General Mr. Zoran Stančič and Mr Khalil Rouhana, Director of Components & Systems.

The European Commission is also organising four workshops:

• "Robotics projects... beyond the Robotics Unit" (11th March 2015 8:30-10:00)
• "First H2020 Robotics projects and their contribution to the SRA" (12th March 2015 at 8:30-10:00)
• "Step change results from FP7 projects" (12th March 2015 10:45-12:15)
• "First H2020 projects, ECHORD++ and EuRoC - "Impact beyond projects" (12th March 2015 14:00-15:30)
