Addressing marine and maritime research and policy, the EurOCEAN 2014 conference will bring together marine scientists from a broad range of disciplines with policymakers, industry and NGOs from 7 to 9 October in Rome, Italy.
The key objective for the events is the ‘Rome Declaration’ – agreement on a common vision on achieving an ecosystem approach to the management of Europe’s marine resources. This is seen as a fundamental requirement for sustainable Blue Growth.
The declaration will reflect the consensus of the EurOCEAN 2014 participants, and therefore that of the European marine science community.
EurOCEAN 2014 will also emphasise that a growing and sustainable maritime economy (Blue Growth) will also require a much greater understanding of marine ecosystem functioning and resilience.
For further information on the event and registration see the EurOCEAN 2014 website.
