The purpose of this study is:
- to substantiate our understanding of the existing public and private initiatives in the area of tourism accommodation classification
- to examine the impact of these initiatives on the market
- to respond to the repetitive inquiries and requests by the European Parliament referring to the inconsistency of existing hotel classification schemes
- facilitate dialogue and exchange of good practices in classification of tourism accommodation services
