This guidance will be used to encourage the exchange of information on bio-based products, centering on key issues such as availability, capabilities and sustainability concerns. The information provided will be used to assist with:

• helping procures to share experiences;
• developing procurement criteria based on currently available standards;
• facilitating the uptake of bio-based products;
• promoting new and innovative purchasing methods and strategies, so as to emphasise best practice and value for money in a growing procurement market. 

The overall aim is to achieve a successful uptake of this guidance, by as many national, regional, local and private procurement organisations, as possible.
