6 July 2011: The Commission intends to adopt a Communication on the sustainable competitiveness of the construction sector and its enterprises by the end of 2011. It will propose a series of initiatives that could help the sector to achieve the sustainable competitiveness objectives and ensure better coordination of the many initiatives put in place at European, national and sectoral levels.

For the preparation of the Communciation, the European Commission has launched an online public consultation on a possible strategy that could help the sector to become more sustainable and improving its competitiveness at the same time.
