The 2010 Communication on Industrial Policy [COM(2010)614] needs to be complemented by further analytical work to support policy making and monitoring. This is the background for the Commission launching this framework service contract on 'Industrial Competitiveness and Market Performance'. The study reports from this framework contract will provide an input to the assessment of existing and the formulation of future EU industrial and related policies as well as to monitor industrial performance.
