Call for Tenders: ENTR/09/008 - Technical secretariat of the group of notified bodies under Council Directive 89/106/EEC (Construction Products Directive)

The Commission, in co-operation with the Member States, ensures that close co-operation is organised between notified bodies. This to ensure coherent technical application of the conformity assessment procedures set out in the Community harmonisation directives based on the New Approach and the Global Approach. To this end, notified bodies dealing with an individual directive or with a specific field must meet, in coordination, in order to establish coherent methods so that all the examinations are based on the same techniques and lead to comparable results.

The Technical Secretariat works in close cooperation with the Commission services, with the chairman of the Construction Products Directive (CPD) group of notified bodies (GNB) and, where relevant, with the administrative secretary of notified bodies approved under any New Approach directive. Its tasks are mainly to assist the chairman of the GNB in their functions, to prepare the Advisory Group meeting, to co-draft technical working papers and to write conclusions and minutes of meetings. It also monitors the GNB’s sectoral work, guides the Sector Group officials and informs the Commission services and the GNB chairman of progress made. In addition, the Technical Secretariat should provide, at the request of the Commission Services, technical advice on CPD attestation of conformity-related subjects. The Technical Secretariat also manages a CPD GNB dedicated website.
