Further to the publication of a Commission Staff Working Document which provides a detailed picture of the sector in terms of statistics and economic indicators, the Commission intends to adopt a Communication with an assessment of the overall challenges and proposing policy actions to allow the EU metals industry to adapt to the new context of globalisation. Before such a political Communication is adopted, the Commission intends to collect the comments, views and suggestions of all relevant stakeholders. Closing date: 31.10.2006.
