Study on a product categorisation system for information to be submitted to poison centres, according to Article 45(4) of EC Reg. No 1272/2008 (CLP)

The objective of the service contract is to provide the European Commission with tools to support the establishment of a European Product Categorisation System (hereinafter PCS). The system is to be used in the submission of information related to the chemical composition of hazardous mixtures.

Workto be carried out incudes:

i) analysis of existing Product Categorisation Systems in EU Member States and their suitability for the submission of information, according to Art. 45 of EC Regulation No 1272/2008 (hereinafter CLP);

ii) design and development of a European PCS on the basis of existing systems, including conversion tables for the existing systems;

iii) identificaton of working procedures for maintenance and regular updates of the European PCS, as regards information submitted to appointed bodies;

Moreover, the study will provide guidance and tutorials for the use of the PCS, paying particular attention to SMEs.
