Public consultation on the review of the Measuring Instruments Directive 2004/22/EC

The Measuring Instruments Directive 2004/22/EC is fully operational since 30 October 2006. Its Article 25 requires the Commission to report on its functioning on 30 April 2011 and if needed to adopt proposals for its improvement.

The aim of the consultation is to receive feedback on the implementation of the Directive and on the reasons and impacts of possible changes, suggestions for which have been formulated by the stakeholders. These suggestions for changes are not in any way binding on the Commission and its services, which keep the right of initiative which will be exercised in line with the principles of smart regulation.
