FP7 Security Call 3 - FP7-SEC-2010-1

The European Commission has published its third call for proposals for security under the Security Theme of the Seventh Framework Programme for Research (FP7), with a budget of EUR 210.59 million.

[p]The objective of the Security theme is: to develop the technologies and knowledge for building capabilities needed to ensure the security of citizens from threats such as terrorism and (organised) crime, natural disasters and industrial accidents while respecting fundamental human rights including privacy; to ensure optimal and concerted use of available and evolving technologies to the benefit of civil European security; to stimulate the co-operation of providers and users for civil security solutions; to improve the competitiveness of the European security industry and to deliver mission-oriented results to reduce security gaps. The Security theme will maintain an exclusively civil orientation and focus on activities of clear European added value.[/p] [p]The Security Research Call 3 is open from 30 July to 26 November 2009. It comprises several topics in four mission areas:[/p] [ol] [li]Security of citizens;[/li] [li]Security of infrastructures and utilities;[/li] [li]Intelligent surveillance and border security;[/li] [li]Restoring security and safety in case of crisis.[/li] [/ol] [p]These four missions are completed by a number of cross-cutting topics from the activities “Security and Society” and “Security Research Coordination and Structuring”.[/p] [p]It is also worth noting that, for the first time, this Call is open for demonstration programmes (Phase II) in two areas: Security of mass transportation and European-wide integrated maritime border control system.[/p] [p]Detailed information concerning the call can be found in the Security Work Programme which is available on [link]http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=UserSite.cooperationDetailsCallPage&call_id=275(the CORDIS website)[/link].[/p]
