Future proofing EU banking regulation

On 30 November, Commissioner McGuinness gave a speech on banking at an event in Frankfurt. She spoke of the impact the COVID pandemic has had, including on the banking sector. It was, Ms. McGuinness said, the first major test of the resilience of banks since the global financial crisis. And not only did the banks pass that test, but they were part of the solution during the crisis, helping to soften the impacts for businesses and citizens. Ms. McGuinness looks back at the achievements so far on banking union, and forward to what still needs to be done.
