Loans, bank accounts, payments, credit cards, mortgages, insurance products… Many Europeans find it difficult to access these services across borders and businesses find it hard to provide them. That's why the European Commission is currently consulting on consumer financial services to identify what should be done.
The European Commission has launched a social media campaign to collect experiences from consumers on financial services across Member States. These experiences could involve cross-border banking, insurance or other payment services. They could include, for instance, problems opening a bank account in another EU country, lack of transparency on charges for using a credit card when shopping online abroad or trying to buy insurance in another member state where it is cheaper.
