Making change happen

On 8 April 2022, Commissioner McGuinness gave the opening speech at the launch of the EU Digital Finance Platform. She began by stressing the support the Commission is committed to offering to the creative minds that are bringing new digital financial products and services to the market and those tasked with supervising these activities. Ms McGuinness went on to acknowledge that fragmentation is still an issue and that it impedes innovation. She says the EU is working to tackle this in a number of ways, including through legislation. Ms McGuinness then set out how the EU Digital Finance Platform will support innovation, underlining the fact that it is a concrete project designed to encourage interaction. She concludes by looking to the future – preparations to improve existing functionalities and add new ones, and potential plans for a Data Hub.
