Dear colleague,

We’re pleased to send you the September edition of the News Alert on Green Public Procurement (GPP).

Strategic use of public procurement practices, and making every purchase matter for the environment, are some of the topics that were much debated at the United Nation’s annual High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York this summer. A short article about some of the points raised is available inside this month’s newsletter.

Our September interview provides an insight into how several cities in the Helsinki region are collectively taking action in their purchases of heavy-duty vehicles, machinery and other similar services.

Good practice cases this month showcase:

- An experience from the Netherlands in reconstructing a part of a motorway, and the Dutch government’s approach for ‘greening’ large infrastructure projects; and

- How Austria’s central purchasing body have set up (and are executing) a large framework contract for electric vehicles.

Discover the following in other news:

- Paints, varnishes and road markings: the GPP Criteria are now available in 22 languages!

- Barcelona City Council’s new sustainable procurement plan and new website

- A recent report about Europe’s tropical timber imports

- The recently launched GPP online portal from the Croatian government
