Dear colleague,

We’re pleased to send you the May edition of the News Alert on Green Public Procurement (GPP).

In this issue, we feature the results of the recently concluded EU-funded project on sustainable public procurement - SPP Regions. Yearly savings of 394,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide through 40 eco-innovative public purchases have been achieved. This is the equivalent of over seven return trips to Mars a year!

Our interview this month looks at sustainable procurement in France, and how this is organised by the central government. Malika Kessous from the State Purchasing Department shares her insights.

In terms of Good Practice, get a detailed look into how the Government of Flanders used their recent contract for office stationery strategically to green their offices.

In other news this month download your copy of the European Commission’s Circular Procurement brochure in French, German, Italian, Polish or Spanish. Sign up to take part in the next Webinar (organised by the GPP Helpdesk) on sustainable events, find out the latest on the development of EU GPP Criteria, and secure your place at the next EcoProcura Conference (in Nijmegen).

Enjoy reading!
