In light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine the European Commission has proposed an outline of a plan to make Europe independent from Russian fossil fuels, starting with gas, well before 2030. This plan also presents a series of measures to respond to rising energy prices in Europe and to replenish gas stocks for next winter. REPowerEU will seek to diversify gas supplies, speed up the roll-out of renewable gases and replace gas in heating and power generation. The case for a rapid clean energy transition under the European Green Deal has never been stronger and clearer.

The project RE-EMPOWERED started in July 2021 with the goal to develop a set of solutions for efficient, decarbonised and RES-intensive multi-energy local energy systems. The tools and solutions will be demonstrated in four demo sites with weak or non-existing grid, two in Europe, and two in India.

The "Introduction to energy poverty and the EPAH – Introductory course" is a short course open to all interested in addressing energy poverty. It provides an overview of energy poverty from a practical–political perspective. The course is available in English with subtitles in 21 European languages.
