10th successful ECI presented in a public hearing in the European Parliament

The European Parliament held a public hearing on the 10th successful European Citizens’ Initiative, Fur Free Europe, on 12 October. Organisers presented their argument that ‘the keeping and killing of animals solely for the purpose of fur production is ethically unacceptable’ and members of the European Parliament presented their views on this initiative. A debate on this ECI in a plenary session of the European Parliament took place on 19 October. The Commission will issue its official reply by 14 December 2023.
