Spotlight on the European Union at Ecomondo 2022

CINEA, EISMEA, REA and the Commission were in the spotlight at Ecomondo 2022 with hundreds of meetings with visitors, participation in dozens of events and the launch of the new Advisory Service GREEN ASSIST. Over 50 projects from the LIFE Programme, Horizon Europe, EMFAF, CEF Transport, Innovation Fund and the European Innovation Council were present at the EU Stand.

 
CINEA at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) Conference 2022

CINEA was well represented at this year’s TRA, the largest European Research and Technology Conference on transport and mobility, held in Lisbon this week. A number of colleagues and transport research projects were involved with speaking and moderating roles. We also co-organised the joint EC stand that showcased 32 quickfire project presentations and 10 live demos.

 
CINEA projects at the COP27

The 2022 UN climate change conference (COP27) took place from 7 to 18 November in Sharm El-Sheikh. Several of our Horizon 2020 and LIFE projects in the area of climate action organised events during the two weeks.

Join the presentation on countering online fraud

The spokesperson of the Belgian Federal Police will give a presentation (in FR) on how to avoid scams and harassment on the Internet on 28 November (13:00-14:30). The speaker, Olivier Bogaert, is a cybercrime expert who can be regularly seen on Belgian television talking about Internet scams and hacking.

 
ENER Webinar: An EU Action Plan to digitalise the energy system

All DG ENER and CINEA colleagues interested in understanding more about the importance of digitalising the energy sector in order to achieve our energy and climate objectives are invited to join the webinar organised by ENER B4 colleagues on 2 December (11:00-12:00).

 
2022 SHOEBOX campaign

The annual campaign ‘Shoebox for Christmas’, run by the les Samaritains asbl of Brussels is back! All contributions will be distributed by various charitable associations during the year-end holiday season. You can give your support by 1) bringing a shoebox filled with food and drinks to the W910 reception by 16 December, and/or 2) making a donation to the campaign.

 
CINEA joins the EC IT Central Helpdesk

Starting 11 January 2023, the IT Helpdesk services will be provided centrally by DIGIT, namely by the DWP Service Desk. An info session for all staff was held on 14 November - the presentation is now available on the dedicated page on CINEAnet.

 
Update on the future housing of Executive Agencies

OIB informed earlier this week that all EAs will have to gradually move to the North Light building and another one as close as possible (ideally in the same complex). All EAs will work closely together and with OIB via a dedicated Working Group, to discuss how this new plan will be rolled out in the best possible way, taking into account the needs and constraints of each Agency.

 
LIFE Clean Energy Transition Call 2022 received 225 proposals

Overall 18 topics with a total budget of EUR 98M were open in areas such as improving building energy performance, supporting public authorities in the clean energy transition, building skills and capacity in industry, mainstreaming innovative financing solutions and mobilising investment projects, etc. Selected projects will benefit from a 95% co-funding rate and those LIFE Clean Energy Transition projects are expected to go live in summer 2023.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

 
New funding opportunities for projects on renewables under CEF Energy

The Commission Delegated Regulation establishing the first list of selected cross-border projects in the field of renewable energy entered into force on 17 November. This represents a milestone for the sector as it gives the opportunity to the selected projects to apply for funding for works & studies under the RES window of CEF Energy.

 
GREEN ASSIST has been launched at Ecomondo

The European Commission launched GREEN ASSIST on 9 November at Ecomondo. Funded with EUR 30 million from the LIFE programme, the new advisory initiative helps beneficiaries to green their investments and/or projects across diversified sectors, for instance by integrating nature-based solutions or circular economy principles.

 
EU action plan for digitalisation of energy

The European Commission adopted in October the 'Digitalisating the energy system - EU action plan', a system-wide digitalisation energy action plan that aims to contribute to the EU energy policy objectives by supporting the development of a sustainable, (cyber)secure, transparent and competitive market for digital energy services, ensuring data privacy and sovereignty, and supporting investment in digital energy infrastructure.
