European Maritime Day 2023: bringing innovation under the spotlight

Innovation fund project cutting GHG emissions

The Electron Beam and Ultra Violet project, funded by the Innovation Fund, entered into operation. Since February, the Construction’s Coil Coating plant in Contrisson, France, is implementing a new Electron Beam technology in its steel coating lines. This innovative technology will save up to 31% of GHG emissions when compared to the conventional process.

2023 LIFE Awards: winners announced

Re-wilding forests with Eurasian lynx, boosting farming with hi-tech bio-stimulants and helping one of Europe’s biggest cities adapt to climate change are among the winning projects announced at the EU’s prestigious annual LIFE Awards during the EU Green Week. The winning projects mark outstanding achievements in three categories: nature protection, the environment and climate action.

 
Kudos to all Velomai winners

Another edition is over. This year, CINEA was ranked 5th from among the 53 Commission DGs, services and Agencies participating – well done to all participants! The top CINEA cyclists were announced during the closing event last week. Congrats to all winners and to A1 colleagues for their impressive 517 rides! CINEA Vitality month is at full steam

This year's edition includes different sports, workshops and activities such as Hiit/TAF and cardio boxing mix, chair massages, functional training, pilates, ‘Walk @ Work’ and 'Start2run' coaching. CINEA’s contribution to boosting sustainable biomethane production

Colleagues from our three operational departments joined forces to produce a summary and an infographic on CINEA’s biomethane portfolio, e.g. 26 Actions from four programmes (Horizon, Innovation Fund, LIFE and CEF) that boost sustainable biomethane production. You will find both documents in the Agency’s knowledge sharing platform, an easy to use one-stop-shop for knowledge exchange.

 
Guidelines for staff on safe use of Artificial Intelligence tools

A new generation of online Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools publicly available promise to revolutionise the quality and efficiency of our work. At the same time, they must be used with care to avoid harming our security and reputation. The Commission has now launched guidelines to help staff assess when and how to use these tools.

The workshop ‘Paths to decarbonisation: cross-sea basin synergies’ organised within the EMD 2023 in Brest, France, embedded a rich discussion amongst a panel of policy representatives from the Presidencies/Representatives of the three Sea Basin Strategies and the EU Commission, followed by a moderated Q&A session between panellists and the audience.
