How to use the navigation tree
By default, the database is shown in the form of a tree in which datasets are held in folders and subfolders. The navigation tree consists of four main sections:
- detailed datasets: contains all data publicly available from Eurostat. They are presented in so-called multi-dimensional datasets.
- selected datasets: pre-defined datasets holding a section of a larger detailed dataset.
- EU polices: holds datasets organised according to specific EU policies.
- cross cutting topics: offers a selection of statistical topics that are obtained from multiple data sources and collections.

Users can navigate through the tree by expanding or collapsing folders and sub-folders in order to quickly identify relevant datasets:

At the lowest level, datasets are listed by text label and dataset code:

Datasets can be opened in the data browser interface by clicking the left-most icon:
A full copy of the dataset can be downloaded in .tsv format by clicking the download icon:
The metadata associated with the dataset is accessed by clicking the document icon:
Information on the datasets is accessed by clicking the right-most icon:
Datasets may also be labelled to indicate that they have been recently updated.
The enhanced navigation tree
In addition to the default navigation tree, an enhanced version is also available.
The datasets are provided in the same groupings as before, but the folder icons are replaced with user-friendly icons:

By selecting topics, the tree reacts dynamically to present associated datasets. In the enhanced navigation tree, datasets can be viewed in the data browser interface by clicking the dataset title:
