Industrial producer prices down by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.4% in the EU
Overview
In August 2025, compared with July 2025, industrial producer prices decreased by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.4% in the EU, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In July 2025, industrial producer prices grew by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.6% in the EU.
In August 2025, compared with August 2024, industrial producer prices decreased by 0.6% in the euro area and by 0.4% in the EU.

Monthly comparison by main industrial grouping and by Member State
In the euro area in August 2025, compared with July 2025, industrial producer prices
decreased by 0.1% for intermediate goods,
decreased by 1.3% for energy,
increased by 0.1% for capital goods,
decreased by 0.1% for durable consumer goods,
increased by 0.1% for non-durable consumer goods.
Prices in total industry excluding energy remained stable.
In the EU, industrial producer prices
decreased by 0.1% for intermediate goods,
decreased by 1.4% for energy,
increased by 0.1% for capital goods,
remained stable for durable consumer goods,
increased by 0.1% for non-durable consumer goods.
Prices in total industry excluding energy remained stable.
The largest monthly decreases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Denmark (-1.3%), the Netherlands and Romania (both -1.0%) as well as in Austria (-0.8%).The highest increases were observed in Estonia (+5.4%), Finland (+1.9%) and Slovakia (+1.3%).
Annual comparison by main industrial grouping and by Member State
In the euro area in August 2025, compared with August 2024, industrial producer prices
decreased by 0.3% for intermediate goods,
decreased by 4.1% for energy,
increased by 1.8% for capital goods,
increased by 1.6% for durable consumer goods,
increased by 2.0% for non-durable consumer goods.
Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 1.0%.
In the EU, industrial producer prices
decreased by 0.1% for intermediate goods,
decreased by 3.4% for energy,
increased by 1.7% for capital goods,
increased by 1.6% for durable consumer goods,
increased by 2.2% for non-durable consumer goods.
Prices in total industry excluding energy increased by 1.0%.
The largest annual decreases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Portugal (-4.3%), Luxembourg (-4.2%) and Estonia (-3.2%). The highest increases were observed in Bulgaria (+9.1%), Sweden (+4.1%) and Romania (+3.1%).

Notes for users
Revisions and timetable
Compared with data issued in the News Release of 3 September 2025, the monthly percentage increase for July 2025 has been revised from +0.4% to +0.3% in the euro area and remained unchanged at +0.6% in the EU. The annual percentage increases remained unchanged at +0.2% in the euro area and at +0.4% in the EU.
Methods and definitions
The index of producer prices shows (in the national currency of the country concerned) changes in the ex-works sale prices of all products sold on the domestic market, excluding imports. Euro area and EU indices refer to overall weighted price changes. The figures are not calendar day or seasonally adjusted.
Total industry covers NACE rev.2 sections B to D + E36.

The euro area (EA20) includes Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia and Finland.
The European Union (EU27) includes Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden.
