Dick Sluimers

Dick Sluimers has been Chairman of the Management Board of APG Group NV since 1 March 2008, at which time the pension administration and investments organisation was separated from Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP.

Mr. Sluimers joined ABP in February 2003 as Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board of Directors. He held the position of Acting Chairman from mid-2005, and was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors with effect from 1 January 2007.

After studying economics at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and reading politics at Amsterdam University, Mr. Sluimers started his professional career in the Dutch Ministry of Finance. In 1982, he moved to the Department of Labour where he became Deputy Director of Finance. Early in 1988, he was appointed Deputy Director-General of Public Health at the Dutch Ministry of Health. There he led the financial restructuring of the Dutch health insurance system. At the end of 1991 he returned to the Ministry of Finance as Deputy Treasurer-General. From 1998 to 1999 he was also Director of Finance during which period he founded the ‘Centre for Public Private Partnerships’ in The Netherlands. In 2000, he became Director-General of the Budget.

Mr. Sluimers is a member of the Supervisory Board of credit insurer Atradius NV and ICT service provider Inter Access BV. He also serves as a member of the Supervisory Council of the University of Maastricht and the Board of Governors of the National Academy for Finance and Economics. Previously, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of the National Investment Bank, Royal Dutch Aircraft Company Fokker and ABP Insurance Company.
